  • Controls on cassiterite (SnO2) crystallization Evidence

Cassiterite UPb geochronology results obtained by LAICPMS return ages between 77 and 83 Ma, which is consistent with previous geochronology from the region. Ages determined on zones of dissolutionreprecipitation are similar to ages for primary cassiterite growth, indicating a short (<3 ) timespan of hydrothermal activity.

  • LAICPMS UPb dating reveals cassiterite inheritance in

Jan 07, 2021 · UPb data for 10 nearly concordant analyses of disseminated cassiterite from the same samples yield a 206Pb/238U age of 1838 ± 34 Ma. This is the first documented evidence of cassiterite inheritance in granitic magma. These data indicate the robust character of UPb isotope systematics in cassiterite, comparable to that in zircon.

Cassiterite The tin mineral cassiterite information and

Cassiterite is the bestknown tin mineral. It has been used as the chief ore of tin from early history throughout the ages, and remains so even today. Some of the economical Cassiterite deposits exist in placer stream deposits where this very heavy mineral collects as rounded waterworn pebbles. The name Cassiterite is derived from the Greek "kassiteros", meaning tin.
